My insulating layers under the roof

My insulating layers under the roof

On this image is the dome prior to roofing – I have a first layer of vermiculite, then insulating ceramic blanket layer of 25mm thickness, sand & lime, then wood-ash on top and lastly sand & lime thinly applied to complete my thermal insulation.

  1. Dear Bev,
Thank you very much for sending your oven photos. Truly lovely job!

You mentioned the wood-ash layer above the Vermiculite and the ceramic blanket insulation, the ash that you patiently collected from fires in your fire place; how thick layer of this ash have you applied? And how high is the Vermiculite layer? The oven must perform real well I can see it, interesting.

What do you make in the oven the most?

    With compliments.

    Warm regards,
    Rado
