Oven finished with stucco to match the house
G’day Rado,
We have finished our oven. It is wonderful! We make pizzas weekly and always make bread afterwards. We have roasted a duck and chicken also. The duck was confit style and the chicken was in a tandoori. Both were excellent.
Your plans were most helpful and appreciated. Our oven is faced with local limestone and the rest is stucco, to match our house. We are just North of San Antonio, Texas, so the weather is condusive to year round operation.
We’ve been down under several times and find that Oz is very similar to Texas, in both climate and disposition of the people.
Please feel free to use the photos on your website. It was project well worth the effort.
Thanks
Dave and Steffi

BTW – we visited a local artist shop and they were very happy to let us cart off gray clay scraps from their classroom, at no charge. We used the gray clay as part of our fire mortar.

I like the rough render on the walls. Any imperfections add to the nice character suitable for wood fired pizza ovens, and also, are easy to re-create for someone like me, I have 2 left hands!

I know that stucco can be applied to almost everything and anything, and using it on the oven sounds interesting. Stucco has many remarkable features, such as long lasting, tough, and will last for many years with proper care and maintenance. Regardless of your home design, for sure, stucco will go along with it. Thank you for this blog; now I have an idea of what to do next on my home improvement. This was superb and exceptional!
