Interesting. Although it is only ~10mm I think it would work under the firebrick hearth as preventing layer in between the concrete slab and hearth bricks. If you had any more info on lime stone properties and qualities please drop them in this thread for people to read about. Hopefully it's in a straight flat form so you won't find harder to create nice surface with bricks. I haven't worked with the limestone before, a bit with soapstone hearths when in Europe.
