Matt, yes as is there the aluminum foil goes between firebricks and concrete cladding layer, it prevents concrete bonding with firebricks and it stops firebricks fast absorbing water from the concrete for it to cure properly. Buy and use ordinary cooking aluminum foil from the supermarket. There is much more also on this matter in the cd's document files. r
