Now I understand you were talking about a large mass of dense refractory material that would be more prone to cracking. An oven with many segments would not be the same.
I am glad you were specific about 3" cladding with no need to go thicker,now I can stop thinking about another corse of bricks :)
Could you explain the difference between vermiculite and perlite?
