Slab & Frost heaves?
From the WFO board
Posted by Jim G.
I recently received the Cd's for the Swishy oven and the Masterly Tail oven & am planning on building one of them. I have a question about the footings in a cold climate. I live in New Hampshire in the U.S. and the frost line is 36 inches deep - which means that a standard footing for a wall needs to be 48 in. deep.
Has anyone built one of these ovens on a slab with the 12 in. reinforced footings in a cold climate? Is the slab small enough so that the oven "floats" with the temperature changes or does the slab tend to crack? Thanks for your help!
