Somewhere down in forum is a good posting, or two, on this aluminum foil use. Basically, I never noticed absorbing too much water into firebricks in walls that would influence concrete curing. But in the top above arches yes, maybe because it is large surface and water is easier taken from the flat soft concrete layer. Another reason for the aluminum foil is to prevent concrete bonding with firebricks but this too applies to arches, again wall bricks can bond with concrete but if you would like you can use foil in walls as well it cannot hurt. r
