Hi Ray,
Don't fret. To me it seems the oven almost started to turn white completely, first it starts to burn carbon directly above the fire and then white color starts to spread faster. As you described the fire maybe it was too little, make slightly larger fire but not too big - flames shouldn't want to exit the chamber thought the door - that would be unnecessary too big. Shift fire to the back keeping it there. Of coarse best will be when the oven is insulated hiding the dense hot part! Soon you will come into terms how to reach pizza temperature in 1 ½ hour or maybe a bit longer in larger oven. What are the dimensions, plus internal height and door size? r
