Rafters on chimney?

I am beginning to consider the roof construction, since my brick wall is slowly nearing the final height. My plans are very much like the Swishy design but I have one crucial question:
The rafters carrying the roof seems to be attached directly to the chimney (e.g. picture zl7 copy.jpg) without any insulation. Is this right? And, if so, isn't the temperature a bit on the high side for this to be safe?
