Of course, leave the mortar to dry before the template under new arch is taken out. You can go to next arch when the first is set. I give it about 1 hour, whole firebrick part can take 1 long day, other people mentioned here in forum they can go faster than that. Did you remove template when the mortar was still soft(?), just give it some time firebricks are heavy. r

I tried my had at building the arch and it sagged badly in the middle. The end bricks were braced well and the bricks touched on the inside but it seems that the refractory mortar squeezed out from the bricks and gravity took over. Should the mortar be completely dry before moving the arch form forward?
