Thanks. I am just trying to use the minimum number of new (expensive) firebricks ($2.50. each 4 seconds) and maximise the use of second-hand bricks
that I have found vary in size and are often distorted by heat - requiring mortar joints. - I have come up with a neat answer I think - new firebricks to build base, sides and vault ( less than 50) - old firebricks to form a second skin. - Comments very appreciated! Bob.
