In my construction i added 2 pipes into the side of my oven where 2 gas burners can be inserted. I am a blacksmith by hobby and I found a nice site where a simple burner can be built for about $12 American dollars. Do a search on RON REIL and you will find it. I have fired my oven with wood since i finished it 5 or 6 times but have never fired it to completion with gas. I will go out on a limb, " no pun intended ". And say wood firing is superior not only for the taste, heat, experience, ETC ETC but also for the primal urge to make fire.
Let me add a very large caveat. A gas injected burner system has to be watched closely. If for any reason the flame should extinguish and then fill the chamber with raw fuel and then reignite you are looking at a dangerous situation. Now that I have scared the daylights out of you i would still encourage you to try gas with caution of course, I did, and if you don't like it or it does not work nearly as well just cap it off and no harm done .... ohh one other thing, gas firing is considerably noisier.
