Mortar recipe to join refractory fire bricks for a wood burning pizza oven's dome:
A mix of sand or even better firebrick grog, cement /Calcium Aluminate cement/ and a fire clay in the ratio of 10x3x1.5. At first mix all dry ingredients and then with a clean water.
Joints between bricks should be kept as small as possible and inside the arch bricks edges should be next to each other touching. That prevents bricks from moving.
This mortar recipe is for the firing dome. For the outside walls, if you plan to use bricks or rocks etc., use the ordinary building mortar.
