kiln blocks
From the WFO board
Posted by Margaret Tacey
I have a quantity of old arch blocks from a gas kiln - approx.10" thick. Would they be the right type of refractory brick? To use them would make the oven quite bulky - with a 10" thick wall would I still need to insulate? And since they form an arch would I stack them dry or mortar them? They are not overly heavy and softer than normal bricks.
Whoever thought a backyard project would get so interesting?
