Soapstone hearth
From the WFO board
Posted by John
I have managed to acquire some soapstone blocks 9" x 7" x 3" thick. Would these be OK to use for an oven hearth? I am sure I read somewhere that soapstone can soak up and radiate heat better than firebrick. Is that true? Also if I can use soapstone, how would you suggest I bed the blocks in to keep them level as it appears that nothing will bond to them!
Thanks to you all in advance for any help with soapstone.
Edit - new page : with all necessary soapstone data.
Cheers,
John
