Fireclay between Bricks
From the WFO board
Posted by Chuck
Was had trouble laying up the vertical wall of the firebox due to my firebrick rocking and not sitting even. What I did was to mix some fireclay and water into a "soupy" mixture and dip the bottoms of each firebrick into it a bit before putting it in place. This seemed to work very well in leveling things out.
Question: Was I supposed to put aluminum foil between the wall firebrick before I poured around to hold them in place? I could not find it anywhere in the documentation (only over the dome), but the bricks sucked the moisture out of the concrete quite fast.
