Yes sure thing; kiln insulating bricks can be used as insulation under the hearth. These insulating bricks are light in weight and absorb and store nearly no heat. It is very good and firm insulation. So just make sure the hearth on top of them has a good thickness to absorb and retain the heat from fire (to cook items e.g. as on the picture and many other cooking types.) r
