Ray,
Try not to place the facade or heavy hot air passage on insulation. Can you start from the side walls, so the house bricks sit only on the side walls. Or make the top lighter in weight to cover both the oven and the fireplace? Anything in contact with the heat absorbing parts gets hot. Both exhausts could be joined buy using stove/chimney pipes, these pipes are not costly, are not heavy at all, last very long time and can lay on the insulation. From the connecting point they can be directed upwards together in one flow. Here is one picture just for the idea. Let us know how you go or email pictures for more details.
