Hi Frode,
How high are the firebricks in the arch, the arch thickness? If you use 228mm x 115mm x 64mm (9" x 4.5" x 2.5") then 13mm (1/2") "V" gap on outside is fine for fireclay based mortar. However there are always things that can be done to make these gaps even smaller if you don't mind to play with it just a little bit more. Will need to see measurements like internal vault and width, and walls height to see arch rise to comment fully. r
