Rado,
in your CD you make no mention of calcium Aluminate cement. I can not source it where I live so can I use the same concrete mix as for the hearth base on the sides and roof.
I also note that within photo n2 & n3 of your CD you have a photograph of another hearth at the bottom of the page. In that photo you have all the hearth bricks sitting on their end and all are cemented togethor.
What are your thoughts on how you lay the bricks and should they be all joined by mortar.
