Vermiculite was really hard to find ... I actually got mine at a refractory place in Melbourne, but as it is also used in the gardening industry, why not try a horticulture place or even a hydroponic place as it is used in all those things ... having said that, Perlite is used by Alan Scott (the aust born, san fran living god in this subject methinks ... apart from Rado.) In the construction of his ovens!
