Hi Kim ,the white solid bricks are fired at a higher temperature when made, probably around the 1080 to 1140 deg. C. red firing clays vitrifies at a lower temperature so require less heat in the kiln you are pretty safe with the white /cream colours make sure they are clay and not the white silica brick, they are autoclaved not kiln fired bricks
