I am presently building an oven in Denmark where the frost line is similar to that in New Hampshire. I thought long and hard about the foundation, since the normal wall footing in Denmark is 3 feet deep!vWhen I found out that slab foundations are common in Norway (which has a colder climate than Denmark), I decided to go for a slab on EPS - see the May building log in the link.
I certainly hope that the slab will "float" but you will have to wait a year or two for a definite answer... :-)
