Vermiculite Vs Perlite

We used Vermiculite for the insulating concrete on the dome and poured loose Perlite between the finished, concreted dome and the outside walls. Seems to work fine.
In California, Perlite is one dollar a bag (35 #)cheaper than Vermiculite, we used the agricultural grade. Perlite looks like it would have a higher insulating rating than vermiculite.
